Taekwondo is all about the kicks! Not just the literal kicks, but also all of the other benefits you get from participating in martial arts in a setting controlled by master instructors.

The benefits of Taekwondo are mental, physical, and social:
  • improved strength, balance, and flexibility
  • improved self-control and self-discipline
  • reduced stress!
  • improved social skills
  • increased number of close friendships
If you have been hesitating to join a class, please reconsider! You have no idea what you are missing out on. All shapes and sizes are welcome and can benefit from our program. If you have been in class before and have been absent for a while, come back and renew your health and well being. Your ongoing commitment will payoff,  providing the advantages that come from being physically and mentally fit and healthy.

Team Forest Grove

One important aspect of tournament competition is team: teams consist of four members of any rank, usually the highest ranking students available. Team competition includes performing a synchronized hyung (form), board breaking, and a self-defense or fighting demonstration. As in the video below, one team member can be chosen to do the breaking portion:

Walk for MS

Martial artists are expected to be contributing members of society, caring for those who need help. We look for various ways to provide community service, and the MS Walk is one we have participated in for years. We have students, family, and friends who suffer from Multiple Sclerosis. The Walk for MS helps raise money for research to find ways to treat and eventually cure this disease. And it's fun! Kim's Taekwondo schools from all over joined together last year to walk, and we're doing so again this year. We really enjoyed it, enjoyed knowing that we were helping a good cause, and enjoyed spending time with friends.

Date: April 9, 2011
Time: 10 am
Place: Pioneer Courthouse Square, Portland OR.
Official Website for Walk MS Oregon: HERE
To join the team, go to the home page (National MS Society), and you'll see the date April 9. Click "Portland" just below that, then click, "Join a Team." Click "Team List Page" or click the link on the left that says "Team List." [the site is hard to navigate] Find "Kim's Tae Kwon-Do." Click and join. If you just want to donate, you can do that on the home page, click "Donate" on the left and search the team member name you want to help.

Welcome!

Welcome to Kim's Taekwondo, Forest Grove branch. We teach traditional, light contact Taekwondo and practice it as a lifetime habit. Students benefit from:
  • Increased strength, flexibility, balance.
  • Improved aerobic endurance.
  • Increased confidence and a much higher level of self-control in stressful situations.
  • Improved ability to protect themselves.
  • Increased ability to focus on tasks.

The martial arts are known for their mental and physical benefits, but did you know that those who participate in group exercise are much more likely to stick with an exercise program, and that students report feeling happier overall? The friendships we build keep us coming back.

Please explore this website in order to learn more. Find us in person at the following location (if we aren't close enough, ask about other branch schools in your area):
